Jan 15 19:34:17 [dagonpolaris] Kumorigoe: I work in a two-person helpdesk/sysadmin team, and I recently set up a new system to image the computers here. My boss didn't know how to handle the system reserved partition, so he installs windows 7, then writes over the OS partition with our company's system image
Jan 15 19:34:49 [Kumorigoe] That's...retarded.
Jan 15 19:34:52 [Kumorigoe] On so many levels.
Jan 15 19:35:18 [dagonpolaris] i know. i found a way to just boot winpe, delete/recreate the partitions, write the system image AND the system reserved partition, then use bootrec to redo the BCD entry
Jan 15 19:35:27 [Kumorigoe] dagonpolaris, your "boss" needs to learn about MDT, WAIK, and WSUS.
Jan 15 19:35:38 [Kumorigoe] How many systems we talking here?
Jan 15 19:35:51 [dagonpolaris] all of them. 250 or so.
Jan 15 19:36:20 [Kumorigoe] TWO HUNDRED AND FUCKING FIFTY?!?!?!
Jan 15 19:36:49 [dagonpolaris] i know, right? but today he's saying that, because i'm doing something different, it's messing with windows activation. as far as i can tell, sysprep does away with that itself
Jan 15 19:37:02 * Kumorigoe rubs his temples.
